Visit to the Coq gardens

Before arriving at the Jardins du Coq, located in a small corner of the Southwest between Charente and Dordogne, we already fully taste the charm of the surrounding countryside, with its gentle reliefs and its rivers. In order to make the most of the two hectares of gardens, the visit is organized around three distinct spaces, the contours of which are delimited by small streams: the small thematic gardens, the arboretum and its flowered fallow and the wood of La Paloma. The thematic gardens are reminiscent of a plant travel diary, a plant autobiography that we leaf through, page after page, plant enclosure after plant enclosure, each one bringing its share of memories dear to the creator of the places: a dedicated thematic table Asia succeeds another borrowing of the colors and sounds of Africa, then another yet which tells us about exotic countries ... Further on, the arboretum offers the beneficial freshness of its large trees. Finally, the wood of La Paloma offers its universe of tales and legends to the child who sleeps in us. Let yourself be tempted by this immersion full of poetry.

The gardens of the Rooster ## The palaver tree An unexpected incursion towards Africa which awakens in us the sound of tom-toms. In this little corner of nature in its raw state, it is good to take a little rest in the shade of the big willow.

Les jardins du Coq ## Marie Jeanne's bedroom Who is Marie-Jeanne who inspired this delicate garden which plays with shades of pink and blue? We imagine it both discreet and feminine, like the roses and lavenders that adorn its flowerbeds.

Les jardins du Coq ## The exotic garden Rich in exotic varieties - palm trees, gunnera, encalyptus ... - this garden makes extensive use of water to bring freshness and soothing. It is also punctuated by many touches of Majorelle blue whose powerful evocative power is enough to transport us to Marrakech, Isfahan, Madeira ...

Les jardins du Coq ## The lavender field and solar garden We are here at the highest level of the gardens, within a vegetable replica of Stonehenge, where the cypresses describe a magic circle within which everyone is invited to dance while watching the sky.

Les jardins du Coq ## Le jardin de Bacchus Here, we find a note of classicism with this garden which takes up the codes of French gardens. The center is occupied by an elegant statue which shines on a set of flowerbeds surrounded by boxwood. This so-called "Bacchus" garden is an elegant tribute to the vine, intoxication and happy days.

The Rooster gardens

The gardens of the Rooster ## The arboretum The flowers of the fields benefit from the freedom and full sun offered by the spaces left fallow, while in the background of thick foliage carrying beneficial shade draw the first contours of the arboretum.

Les jardins du Coq ## The love pond Located at the edge of the wood, the pond brings a sweet promise of rest and freshness. A couple of swans in love watch over the place.
